Stabilisation and Retaining Wall Construction

  • Client: Warringah Council
  • Location: Harbord, NSW
  • Project Type: Earthworks - Stabilisation and Retaining Wall Construction
  • Scope of Work
Following Geotechnical investigation, Warringah Council identified a section of road reserve in Harbord, NSW with a high risk of slope instability and consequently rock and/or embankment slippage. This reserve instability created a potential hazard for residents, pedestrians and motorists within the local area.
Hannas was awarded the contract to restablise the area and eliminate the potential risk.

In order to do this Hannas carried out a series of stabilisation works on the slope within the reserve, as well as constructing a ‘soldier pile and precast concrete retaining wall’ to keep the current area secure and contained.

Due to the close proximity of the works to local residents and the general public, a high priority was placed on ensuring open communication was maintained with all stakeholders.  As well as adhering to Council guidelines, stringent safety and environmental controls were put in place to mitigate the risks to the local community and surrounds.

The contract awarded by Warringah Council was successfully completed on time and within budget.  Whilst the project was one of the smaller works undertaken, it allowed Hannas to showcase flexibility in delivering minor projects with the same quality end product all Hannas’ clients have come to expect.
