Case Study

Crude and Diesel Tank Project

  • Client: Uhde Shedden / Caltex Australia
  • Location: Caltex Oil Refinery - Kurnell, NSW
  • Project Type: Heavy Industry - Crude and Diesel Tank Project
  • Duration: 15 months
  • Scope of Work
Caltex financed the construction of 18ML diesel tank and 88ML crude oil tank aimed to meet the increased demand of diesel on the current market.

Hannas Civil Engineering Pty Ltd was awarded the contract for carrying out all the related civil works as part of the 50 Million AUS$ overall project.
Civil works carried out by Hannas include construction of ring beam foundations for the tanks, retaining walls, containment bunds, drainage systems, installation of HDPE liner to foundations and tank farms, protective shotcreting works to bund walls, installation of oily water sewer system, roads construction, installation of electrical conduits and civil support to various works directly carried out by the Client.

These works were carried out under very strict safety and environmental regulations, whilst work interfaces with the tanks constructors’ required continuous negotiation and works coordination.

Following the award of the initial 3M AUS$ stage 1 civil works package, Hannas were awarded the additional 2M AUS$ stage 2 works for the diesel tank project. This was a consequence of the quality of the works delivered during stage 1 as well as Hannas’ continuous attention in interpreting and meeting Client’s expectations.
