Case Study

Kyle Bay Foreshore Restoration

  • Client: Kogarah City Council
  • Location: Kyle Bay Foreshore, NSW
  • Project Type: Foreshore Restoration Works
  • Duration: 10 weeks
  • Scope of Work
Hannas was awarded the Kyle Bay Foreshore Restoration Works in September 2006. The Kyle Bay Foreshore Restoration project was one of many projects that Kogarah City Council has proactively undertaken for the community as a consequence of the foreshores’ progressively deteriorated condition.

Hannas highlighted some effective alternatives to the original design that enabled Kogarah Council to save a significant amount of money and shorten the duration of the construction period.
The submission of a successful non-conforming bid that saved the Kogarah Council both money and time highlights the ability of Hannas to offer innovative, versatile solutions that meet and exceed our Client’s needs.

Hannas was engaged to carry out all civil works pertinent to the project, which included the construction of new stormwater outlet header walls, a new rock revetment wall and associated new stormwater drainage followed by landscaping thereafter. Given that the majority of the work was essentially below sea level the project along the foreshore length had to be appropriately staged in accordance with the tide.

Notwithstanding this Hannas was able to successfully deliver the project on time and on budget to the satisfaction of Kogarah City Council whilst maintaining all community relations.

Given the close proximity to public amenities and local residents, the project required a high level of communication and coordination with the surrounding community. All of which was managed successfully, resulting in a finished product that completely satisfied the client and the surrounding community.
